With 2020’s Million Paws Walk event now going virtual due to social distancing requirements, our friends at Hill’s Pet Nutrition have helped create some fun ways to add variety to your dog’s walk and exercise.
During the month of May, we're encouraging RSPCA supporters to step it up (literally and figuratively) by lacing their sneakers, putting their furry friend on a lead and engaging in some socially responsible exercise for 30 minutes a day.
One definite way to change up your dog’s exercise routine is to create an obstacle course. You’ll not only give them some variety but also add to their mental stimulation. Click here for how to create your own.
Fetch may be a game as old as time but some dogs may not yet be trained or had much interaction with the game. Fetch, just like obstacle courses, are another great way to keep your dog active and interested in activities. You can learn how to teach your dog to fetch here.
While you’re getting your pedometer (and pawdometer!) steps up for Million Paws Walk’s Walk This May, why not consider some of the other way you can exercise you dog too. Hide and seek, swimming, enhanced walks and stair walks are just some of the fun ways to exercise and bond with your pet.
There’s still time to register for Walk This May and help the RSPCA continue its vital work in the community during these challenging times: https://www.millionpawswalk.com.au/
